Elder Frei & Elder Hafen

Elder Frei & Elder Olsen

Elder Frei with two ward members.

Yes transfers are this week!! I don't really feel like I will transfer! Maybe that is just because I don't want to transfer though! That would be really cool if I got to see Brother Ricks!! You'll have to make sure that he does it! Blair and Mitch both emailed me this week! Basketball was super fun last week!! I'll send you some pics! We took a lot because a lot of the people I like, a ton are going home! I’m going to miss them it's going to be weird without them here!! But they are the group that is 1 year ahead of me.. so you know what that means!!

This week was a good week!! we started teaching two new investigators!! I think they will be really good! They should get baptized fast.. I hope at least!! Our investigator that we have been teaching for a long time finally decided to start praying and he did it!! When he came to the church to meet us, after we could both tell that he had started praying!! He was just way happy! It was really really cool to see!! I think he will see how big of a difference it will make in his life!! haha other than those two things there wasn't a ton of new stuff this week!! I went on splits with Elder Hafen one last time! He goes home this week.. He is bringing one of my suits to the house for me when he come to St. George so that he has to meet you!! It will be sweet you will love him. haha we always talked about Cafe Rio and Costa Vitas because we both miss Mexican food so much! I almost can't believe that he is going home.. his parents are coming to pick him up and we have stake conference next week so I will get to see them that will be cool!! unless I get transferred haha.. It's good to hear from everyone I love you all and hope you have a great week!!

Ok I'm going to write you now! This week... Nothing super exciting happened to be honest but some good stuff happened! We had a new investigator come to church yesterday so hopefully we can keep meeting him and teach him and everything! Then, I sent a text to someone I thought was a person we were suppose to meet, ( I got the  name mixed up) and he was a less active member.. but he came to church . Ha then we got talking and stuff and he said that his little brother isn't a member and he wants to introduce us to him!! So that will be super sweet!! ha then on Wednesday we were meeting an investigator that is in high school and the member that introduced him to us showed up out of nowhere! ha we made Korean kites with him it was pretty fun! ha the best part is that he isn't even a member of our ward!! we played basketball once and we ended up playing with like 20 kids it was way fun haha  Koreans are good so it's fun to mess with them. I'm definitely not in basketball shape.. super rusty! but anyways.. we were walking home and we found this huge market that we had never walked through yet!!! it is like 5 blocks by 5 blocks of just Korean market it's so cool you can buy stuff for super cheap. like food and stuff! we are definitely coming to this area when you guys come over here I love it here so much!! Transfer calls are next week so I kind of think that Elder Murdock will get transferred and I'll stay maybe it's just cause I don't want to get transferred yet!! on Thursday we had our meeting with our ward mission leader that we do every week, but we had extra time before so we decided to go visit one of our members!! we got there and we talked for a minute then I told her I had a scripture to share with her! I opened up to Mosiah 2 (when you are in the service of your fellow beings you are only in the service of your God) and I asked her what it meant and then we talked about it and i explained it to her! then I said today we came here to serve you!! ha so we cleaned up her house for a while she loved it so much she was super happy with us! yesterday we met with an investigator that we have been meeting for a while but he hasn't really been progressing!! he has refused to pray! he has some weird beliefs so we taught him about some stuff it was in 3 Nephi 12 and 15 and then I started talking about prayer and explained to him if he didn't do he wouldn't get and answer and he could never know and if he wasn't going to we couldn't meet anymore! (he is good at English but when we talk about the gospel it is always in Korean, before the lesson I told Elder Murdock I wanted him to talk about it too after I had! So he said it to him after and it was a lot of what I had just said in Korean! But the spirit came in stronger with both of us testifying and teaching and he finally said ok I will pray!! It was super awesome!! So that was my week of teaching!! Aa to answer your questions you just asked, I'm playing basketball in  Yeong Deong Po it is the biggest church in Asia! and I'm playing with a bunch of Elders that came with me and then Elder Hafen and some others that are going home soon.. oh ya Elder Hafen already has plans to go to St. George when he gets back so he told me I could send whatever I want home with him and he will deliver it to you!! ha I do missionary work all day mom! We talked to 145 people this past week on the street! haha I can't believe that Mothers day is so soon.. That is so crazy! It has gone by so fast!! I love you all! and hope you have a great week! I have missed everyones birthday in the family once!!

Thanks for Bootie’s email it was good! It sounds like he is doing good! and getting a lot of American food from the members haha.. This weekend we got to watch conference! It was so great I learned so much! I love hearing the prophets and apostles speak to us!! One of my favorite talks was by Elder Uchtdorf "Don't wait on the road to Damascus" if you didn't hear it you should listen to it because it was great! and if your Zack you should read the New Testament so you know what the road to Damascus is first and then listen to the talk! I loved it! there were tons of good talks though! a lot about getting married that is for sure! ha that's because it is important! but other than conference this week, we watched that on Saturday and Sunday which is when we are meeting all of our investigators right now cause they are all busy during the week! so that was kind of a bummer but we met with a member last night and it was super fun he is one of my favorite members we taught each other slang it was funny! but on Monday we went and played soccer in Seoul and it was super fun, I was a little rusty though because I hadn't played since I left Gimpo! we were going to play again today but we can't find a field to play on so we have to do something else! Tuesday was my birthday! so our bishop took us out to a meat buffet! it was way good and way fun!! haha I love my bishop I have the best ward ever!! Really good and memorable birthday that is for sure!! then on Tuesday I went on splits with one of my zone leaders, Elder Bailey I think I have told you about him before, he was in my district when I was a greenie and in my 2nd area too so we have always served around each other except for like 3 months!! I love him we will be friends for life for sure! but we had a good split! ha we went to this really cheap food place and it ended up being super good it was sketchy though haha! but then at conference we made a bet with each other for whoever gets married first haha he will have like a 6 months start on me though so he has an advantage!! but that was about all I did this week!! I hope everyone had a good week!! Mom I miss getting letters of what is going on back at home!! I wouldn't mind one of those!! Thanks for everything and for your support I love you all so much!!

Love,
Elder Frei

Hey mom!!

I got all of the birthday packages!! I've never been so excited to see muscle milk, protein bars, and a new set of Jordan clothes!! especially after using the same clothes everyday for almost a year!!! haha and all of the candy is great!! I don't know if I'll ever eat it all though!! haah the first thing I opened had grandmas jerky right on top and I knew it was all going to be great from there on!!! haha this week has been so awesome!!! we saw so many miracles this week it was so ridiculous!! all of the hard work we have been putting in is finally starting to show!!! visiting the temple last week was so great! we had a really good p day!! ha we went and ate Taco Bell for the 2nd time I've been in Korea! it's not really like Taco Bell but it's the closest we can get to Mexican food!! haha! but this week we found 6 new investigators!! so amazing!! we are super busy now that is for sure!! one of them is a girl and her mom, she went to high school in the Philippines and now she wants to go to BYU so she wants to learn about the church! I think she will get baptized before the end of this month!!! she is coming to conference with us this weekend! she is way cool! we watch conference a week after you get to! I can't believe this is already my 2nd conference in Korea! and I left right after one! time flies!! but also this week we met another guy that is a film director! ha he is pretty sweet too! he will be fun to get to know!! then we also met a high school kid and started meeting with him and his two friends!! they really like us a lot and are going to start coming to church with us!! also this week one of our investigators committed to being baptized! I don't think he will be completely ready to get baptized for a while still though. but he has come a long way!!! Ha I have some good stories for you this week as well!! so Saturday we were supposed to go play basketball with the three high school kids but they ended up not being able to so we just went to the park to try to play with some people!! we walked in and I looked at the far court and saw a kid dunk it! it was the first time I have seen a Korean that could dunk so I had to play against him!! I walked over to their court and we ended up playing against him and his friend!! it turns out that he plays for Korean Air College, but he's not super good we won really easily still but it was probably the best game I've had with Koreans!! it was way fun so were going to try to play next week he really liked us a lot!!! haha and I'm finally getting back in to shape again from the long winter of not being able to do anything!! I started running a few times a week and it has been helping a lot!! But, this week we also had a training on Thursday, it was all about getting referrals from our wards and becoming friends with all of your ward members and stuff! it was super good and I liked it a lot and learned a lot!! Our ward loves us though so that is super good! in Korea if the people don't like you there not introducing any of their friends to the missionaries!! haha but the girl and her mom were referrals :) haha so after church yesterday I was talking to one of my favorite families in the ward and I told the mom that it was my birthday on Tuesday! ha she wanted us to come over so they could feed us but her husband was going to be gone so she said she would buy me a cake and told me to come pick it up! (there family is super rich) but anyways I wasn't really thinking about it when I told her and I forgot that she is super good friends with everyone in the ward! so, everyone in the whole ward knows it's my birthday now! haha it's so funny.. But we met with Bishop and his family last night because I had some ideas of stuff to do to help with missionary work in the ward, and at church we set the appointment and the wife was like oh but we don't have any food  right now so we wont be able to eat! I was like that's fine we just want to talk to Bishop!! so we ate dinner and then went over there! when we got there she had prepared this huge meal! we ate duck! which is super expensive.. it's about 50 dollars for one duck! I've only ate it one other time the whole time I've been in Korea!! but it was super good!! haha we had been sitting and talking and eating for a really long time and my legs are totally use to sitting cross legged on the floor and eating now but for some reason they both fell completely asleep and I didn't even notice!!! ha so we got done and I went to stand up and I couldn't even feel my legs when I did!!! it looked so funny!! haha it was super funny too I was laughing so hard and so was Bishop!! Ha when we left he was like hey it's your birthday on Tuesday so I want to take you to a meat buffet!! haha so were going to eat with Bishop and his son tomorrow too!! our ward is awesome!! today we are going in to Seoul to play soccer with a bunch of people so it should be super fun!!! I love missionary work!! I love being able so see these miracles! this week has strengthened my testimony so much that when we continue to be obedient and do what we are suppose to do we will see the blessings we are promised for them!!!! I hope you all have a great week I love you all!!
