Package From Korea

Last night one of Chase's closest friends came over and we all talked for about two hours. We were laughing about the crazy times they had in high school. As he was walking to the door to leave he said, "Oh I miss Chase, I'm excited for him to get home". He opened the front door and this was sitting there. He said, "Whoa speak of the devil".

Chase sends his packages the cheap way. That means that they take about six weeks to get here and they come by ship. By the time they get here they look like someone used the package for a seat on the boat. The one last night looked horrible. I couldn't believe that all the contents made it here safe. After I opened it I found out why it looked so bad.

Great Day In Song Pa

With this transfer Chase's email time has been shortened. They are an hour away from everywhere they have to meet so he has less time to write. I took this from a recording he sent today. 

It is sunday february 5th. Yes, it is the day of the super bowl in America. This week has been a really good week. We had zone leader council. President Lee had some good words to say like always. Me and Elder Poulson are doing really good. We get a long great. We also have some really awesome investigators. The investigator that we are teaching is really prepared. We taught him a couple times this week. We taught him some commandments and the word of wisdom. He totally just accepted it and he said the most sincere prayer. Another investigator, his name is Jooh Wan he is a little older. He went to the second most famous universities in Korea. People in America don't know these universities, but in Korea if you went to this one you are awesome. Because all the Koreans care about is school and studying and stuff. On wednesday we had combined district meeting down in Beoun Dong. It is like an hour away from here. Afterwards we all street boarded together and talked to a bunch of people. It was probably the coldest day of the year that day. I thought that my face was going to freeze off. Yeah, and I didn't think that I was going to be ok. Haha but I am ok. Then I went on splits with Elder Bird. He started his mission the same time as me. We have never served near each other so that was cool. We had a really good split. On thursday we switched back. Today is sunday and Jung Yon Goon the investigator that we taught in Yeong Dong Po got baptized today. So I got permission to go and Me and Elder Messick went on splits during church and went over to Yeong Dong Po and got to see the baptism. It was so awesome. It was a great baptismal service and I was so happy to see him get baptized. He learned so much, he had no gospel knowledge at all. He had never studied any religion when we first taught him. He has learned so much since we first taught him and he has come so far. It is so cool to see that in people's lives. It was awesome to be back in Yeong Dong Po. It was like going home. Everyone was like, "ahhh Elder Frei you came back to Yeong Dong Po today".  It was good to see and talk to everyone. I miss them all so much. You guys are going to  definitely have to meet a lot of people from Yeong Dong Po when you come here, it is good that we are staying in that area. I am really looking forward to that. The ward mission leader in the Yeong Dong Po ward asked me to bear my testimony just out of nowhere. He just called on me. He said since Elder Frei came let's have him bear his testimony. So I just went up there and bore my testimony and talked for a little bit. That was really unexpected. We have seen a lot of miracles happening lately. I am so happy to be here in Song Pa. This next week a member of the seventies is coming to do a mission tour so we have a special meeting. I'm really looking forward to that. Tomorrow we are going down to play basketball in Su Gee. That will be fun for sure. Other missionaries from the Tae Jon mission can actually come there because it is in their area. There is a ward in the Tae Jon mission that actually borders our mission. So I might get to see some of the missionaries that I know from the other mission that I was in the MTC with and we travelled here together. So that will be really cool. Elder Bishoff serves in the Tae Jon mission. You should get in touch with his mom. He is from Monroe. They are coming the same time to pick him up that you are coming. So that would be really cool if we could get together, I am sure that they will want to come and see Seoul.  You should try to get in touch with them. Also Elder Shino's parents are coming. That is about all I have for this week. Sorry I didn't get to much on here. I'll try to get more recordings next week. I hope you all had a good week. The gospel is still true here in Song Pa, Korea in the Seoul mission. Oh and I am pretty sure that I gained more weight this week. So I weighed 185 last week so maybe this week I can be 187. Ha that is pretty big. I have been eating tons of food. I love you all and I hope that you have a good week. And I hope that everything is going good at home. I don't even remember who is playing in the super bowl, but I am glad that it is the last one that I will ever have to miss.

An investigator we taught for 3 months in my last area got baptized yesterday!!! it was awesome:)

Hey everyone! it's been an awesome week here in Korea! The holiday was really fun but it's good to get back to normal work again!! This week was a week full of miracles and unexpected things as far as it goes with our investigators!! last week we had an investigator that came to church and liked it, we taught him afterwards with our bishop and it was a pretty good lesson! we met him again this past week and taught him about the plan of salvation and baptism! the lesson went SO good. We were talking about baptism and I asked him what he thought baptsim, he said he didn't think it was bad and it was something he wanted to do! so I asked him if he would be baptized in february and he said yes, I was planning on doing that! haha Then after that he said "how can I prepare to be baptized?" haha he is so prepared! Then, we found a new guy and got him coming to english class. on wednesday after english class he came up to me and was like "hey can I learn about your church? I want to know more about it, but I'm not very good at english so I need to hear about it in korean!" haha we both couldn't believe that he said that. A lot of the people that meet us love english so much and want to speak english the whole time we meet (and it is so hard for us cause koreans have the hardest time learning english! our languages are just too different they cant do it! ha anyways we got to meet him on saturday and teach him and he wants to learn about our church really bad and just wants to follow Christ! he is really prepared. Ha we have found a bunch of people this week from street boarding too! we are really excited this area is doing soooo good :) we are also going to meet someone that lived in America for a while and went to our church while they lived there so that sould be really good! Sorry that's all I have time for we have been super busy lately! sometimes I feel like I don't have anytime to even think! it's good though it keeps me focused on the Lords work. I love the gospel and the happiness it brings to everyone that chooses to follow it! :) I love you all have a great week!!

Hey mom!! I forgot to tell you it was korean new year!! our pday got switched. It was kinda like a 2day vacation from missionary work. This past week has been amazing. It was new years here in Seoul (on the Lunar Calendar) it is one of the biggest holidays in Korea! the whole town shuts down for about 3 days! especially the 2nd day, everything is closed. It kinda reminded me of a huge ghost town! ha it was so quiet compared to the normal busy busy lives the Koreans live.

Last week we had an awesome week! we have a couple of really good investigators that are coming to church and liking it! We have a few families lined up to teach this week as well which is pretty rare! so we are really excited to teach them and meet them this week! We went to a members house last week to eat dinner with them and that was really fun, the dad was super funny I like him alot! he kept telling me I looked like a movie star and then when it was time for us to leave we knelt to say a prayer and he was like "the good looking elder has to say the prayer" and pointed at me. It was really funny!!! we got fed by our bishop once too and he invited a lot of people over, like half the ward! You'll never guess what happened, one of my teachers from the MTC showed up there!! it was so sweet. he served in this area! (it used to be the AP area back when there were two missions in seoul!! yesterday we had our conference and it was great. It was really good to get to see everyone and the trainings we got were awesome. afterwards, we went and ate with the member and her boyfriend that is getting baptized from Yeong Deong Po!! then, we went hiking with them! it was soooo good to see them, and I was so happy to hear that he decided to get baptized!! (he said he would when I taught him he just hadn't set a date yet) so that was an amazing day. I love that family! well we have to go to district meeting! i have alot of pictures but I will have to send them next week! I love you all.

Transferred to Song Pa

Yesterday I had the first feeling of missing Korea and being a missionary, we had an SPM meeting with the Stake Pres and President Lee and I will only go to one more of those it just hit me that my time is starting to run lower and lower.. sad

We're taking off I have some food shopping to do!! I'll talk to you next week!! I love you have a great week! I love the gospel. I love this work and I'm so grateful to be a part of it and to see all the things the Lord has let me seen. I'm so happy to be here in Korea and I'm so grateful for my family. I love you all!
